Our department is functioning with one Asst. Professor and one clinical instructor.
The department is working with the objective to develop our student to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes towards child care, prevention and nursing management of common health problems of neonate and children.
This year total 36 students of our III year B.Sc(N) were trained in child health Nursing both theory and Practical. They got their clinical training on paediatric Nursing in William Children Hospital and C.S.I. Mission Hospital, Neyyoor, during the months of January and February 2019.
The students were posted in different areas of paediatric department such as NICU, PICU, Medical ward, Surgical ward, Diarrhoea ward, Isolation ward, OPD, casualty and immunization clinic.
During their clinical posting the students came across variety of cases like Mesentric lymphadenititis Burns, Reactive airway disease, Aortic regurgitation, Erb’s palsy, Hand foot syndrome, IUG R/etc.
During their training period they had given health education to the mothers, play therapy to the babies and took care Note, care study and involved in all round development of the child care those who hospitalized and visited OPD.
We incorporate different methods of clinical teaching such as Nursing rounds, Bed side clinics, Incidental teaching, clinical presentation etc.
We trained our students to face OSCE/OSPE and traditional clinical practical examination and Viva Voce.
We completed the syllabus prescribed by TN Dr. MGR Medical University Chennai and we had conducted summative evaluation through unit test, class test, Periodical Examination and Model Examination.
Through out this year we had cooperation from personnel in our clinical areas, department faculty and students.
